Funds are needed to promote public awareness of the disease, and to help patients, caregivers, and medical professionals to find the information they need to treat the disease using the most effective methods currently available.
And dedicated research is desperately needed to provide documented evidence for physicians, so that they will feel comfortable offering additional treatment options for patients. Many patients find that the current medical treatments do not provide relief of their symptoms, or the treatments may provide only temporary relief.
There is a huge amount of epidemiological evidence available to support the effectiveness of dietary treatment, based on the actual experiences of many patients who have shared their experiences on the Internet discussion board associated with this website. The evidence indicates that in most cases, the proliferation of the inflammation associated with the disease is due to food sensitivities that develop when the disease is triggered. Over the years, many patients have been able to achieve lasting, stable remission by removing certain foods from their diet. But until the effectiveness of any treatment method is demonstrated by approved medical research methods, and published in a respected, peer-reviewed medical journal, most mainstream medical professionals will not endorse a treatment program based on using such methods.
Therefore, an important goal of the foundation is to promote and support research that will benefit MC patients, their caregivers, and their physicians, by using approved medical research methods to demonstrate the effectiveness of alternative treatment methods, including those based on diet changes that avoid certain inflammatory foods. But as we all know, research of this type is extremely expensive, and requires persistent dedication and effort. Widespread public support for this type of research will be necessary to ensure success, and clear evidence of such broad support will be very helpful for enlisting the support of other organizations within the medical industry and elsewhere, that can help to accomplish this goal.
Please help by choosing from among the options below for making a donation. And whenever possible, please encourage the participation of others who might be able to help. This will greatly benefit the quality of life of the many thousands of patients already living with the disease, ease the burden on their families, and dramatically improve the treatment success of countless more who will be diagnosed in the future.
